Our Management Team

Gary Cress

As the founding principal of Cress Realty Group, Gary is a successful, entrepreneurial real estate developer. At one time, Cress Realty Group was the largest residential developer in Mississippi. Throughout his 20+ year career in commercial real estate, Gary has developed office buildings and shopping centers in Mississippi and Florida, managing over 65 third-party properties in the Southeast.

Prior to the creation of Cress Realty Group, Gary received his bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Mississippi State University and worked for IBM in the data processing division.

Chad Hirn, CCIM

Chad Hirn

Chad graduated from Mississippi State University in 2000 with an undergraduate in Forest Resources and in 2002 with a graduate degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Real Estate. Chad joined Cress Realty Group, Inc in that same year. During his tenure with Cress Realty, Chad was responsible for facilitating and overseeing the process of the acquisition and disposition of retail shopping centers and office buildings, development of retail shopping centers and additions, new financing, refinancing and bridge loans of investment property, lease negotiations for new/existing tenants, tenant representation work, listing and selling of commercial land as well as management of commercial properties.

Rick Bennett

A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Rick earned his undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of West Florida, Pensacola, Florida. Rick oversees a commercial portfolio of 15 properties, including office buildings, medical facilities and community shopping centers from Jackson, Mississippi to Destin, Florida. Rick is a member of IREM and ICSC where he is currently in a management program studying to receive his CSM designation.

Libby Owens

Libby was a Property Manager for numerous retail centers in the upper Southeast and Midwest regions for Newton Oldacre McDonald, and had been with the company since 1994. She has over 15 years of retail real estate industry experience, primarily in property management, tenant relations and financial reporting. She remains committed to excellence in serving the mutual long-range concerns of both the landlord and tenant.

Before joining Newton Oldacre McDonald, Libby worked with a financial planning firm and previously held the position of Credit Manger in the industrial equipment industry for 10 years. Libby has completed business fundamentals coursework at Nashville State Technical Institute. She is a member of ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) and a licensed Affiliate Broker with the Tennessee Real Estate Commission.

Sarah Jordan

Sarah was a Property Manager with Newton Oldacre McDonald and was responsible for managing the company’s portfolio of centers and client relationships in the Southeast states. As one of the longest-termed associates, she was with the company for 20 years and established an extensive background in the real estate field, specializing primarily in retail real estate asset management. Her primary property management responsibilities included maintaining exceptional working relationships with clients as well as vendors, monthly site inspections, creating and maintaining budgets for the centers as well as capital improvements, quarterly property management reports, and maintaining vendor contracts. Along with property management responsibilities, she also created, qualified and maintained corporate records for the company’s legal entities.

Before moving to Prattville and joining The Newton Company, the predecessor company to NOM, Sarah held a position in the condominium rental and sales department with Morgan Realty in Gulf Shores, Alabama for a period of three years. Sarah attended Faulkner State Junior College. Sarah is a licensed Broker with the Alabama Real Estate Commission, a member of IREM and is currently a CPM candidate.

Robb Newton

Robb was most recently overseeing the operations of Newton Oldacre McDonald’s retail portfolio and was with company since 1994. His responsibilities include overseeing both physical maintenance and tenant relations. Robb has a decade of experience in property asset management and customer service for a multi-million square foot portfolio and is dedicated to the long-term concerns of both the landlord and tenant.

Before joining Newton Oldacre McDonald as Property Manager and Leasing Agent, Robb served as a research analyst for Occidental Petroleum in Port Aransas, Texas, where he was part of a new product development team. He received a bachelor degree from Washington and Lee University.

Melissa Trolinger

Melissa was a Leasing Administrator for Newton Oldacre McDonald where her responsibilities included administering leases from the tenant prospecting stage through lease, construction and renewals. Melissa has over a decade of business and office administration experience, much of which is focused in the leasing, construction and development arena. Since 2005, Melissa has maintained an active Alabama Real Estate Commission license.

Before joining Newton Oldacre McDonald, she managed accounts ranging from $1,500,000 to $3,000,000 at Sunbelt General Agency, Inc., as the Accounting/Premium Finance Manager. Previous to that position, she served for five years as assistant to the President, Sr. Vice President and Chief Finance Officer of insurance firm, the Goff Group, Inc. For a period of two years, Melissa was Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Construction and Senior Project Manager of New Construction of Aronov Realty Management, Inc. Melissa began her career in 1987, with Kurrin & Richards, Inc., a window/door supplier and contractor for Housing and Urban Development based in Belleville, Illinois. During her employment there, she was promoted to Corporate Secretary and assisted with management of construction projects across the United States, office administration and bookkeeping. Melissa is a Graduate of Cooperative Honors Secretarial Program with emphasis in Business at Hickey Business School, St. Louis Missouri.

Larry Jones

Larry Jones joined Commercial Property 1, LLC. in October 2009 as Controller. Larry is responsible for all accounting functions to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, the design and implementation of cost analysis and management reporting to support the various operational divisions for the company.

Prior to joining Commercial Property 1, LLC. , Larry worked four years at Newton Oldacre McDonald, LLC. a commercial real estate development and property management company as their Director of Financial Reporting. Prior to that position, Larry worked at Lear Corporation; a tier one automotive supplier to the Montgomery, Alabama based Hyundai Automotive Plant, as an Assistant Controller. He provided accounting experience and direction to assist in the development of internal reporting, budgeting, forecasting and capital expenditure analysis during the plant’s critical launch period. Larry also served as Controller and Manager of Financial Reporting for International Paper Corporation / Union Camp Corporation Woodlands Division for 25 years. His responsibilities included financial oversight of a five state operation with reporting emphasis in financial cost analysis, operational and capital budgeting, and long range strategic planning. In addition to these positions he has worked in many other areas of accountancy during his 33 year career. He is a graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery, majoring in Accounting.
